Itu Ninu at the Festivals

Itu Ninu in Barcelona

On October 13, Itu Ninu screened at IndiFest festival in the city of Barcelona. This annual event focuses on indigenous cinema from Latin America. Following the presentation, there was a Q&A session with the producer, scriptwriter, and actor Armando Bautista García.

Many of the audience members were interested in the subject due to their own roots and experiences. Various organizers from the Cine Club de Barrio were also in attendance. The first question came from an 11-year-old girl asking about the locations of the film. A young woman expressed her excitement for the film by reciting a poem about the care for seeds, establishing a connection with how the film’s main character cultivates and protects seeds in the plot of the film. Another participant praised the subtlety with which the story was crafted, noting that the film showed how people express themselves in various ways, not only through writing and spoken language but also through gestures, looks, pauses, and silences. These are elements that the film explores exceptionally well.
